A glimpse of Ryan's Life

Ryan Walter played 15 seasons and over 1000 games in the National Hockey League. Drafted second overall by the Washington Capitals in 1978, Ryan was named Captain during his 4 years with that organization, went on to play 9 seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, winning a Stanley Cup in 1986, and finally returned to his home town to play his last two years for the Vancouver Canucks.

He was the Team Canada captain in the World Junior Tournament, was selected to play in the NHL All-star game in 1983 and for Team Canada in four World Championships, was a player representative and Vice-President of the National Hockey League Players Association and was named the NHL Man of the Year in 1992.

After his playing career ended Ryan represented the Vancouver Canucks as their 25th Anniversary Ambassador, and assumed a role as the "Color-Man," broadcasting junior, NHL and international games for TV and radio. A founding partner in two separate startup companies, he has written four books, been featured as an actor and technical advisor in the movie Miracle and the television series, Making the Cut, and as himself in the animated television series, Being Ian, earned a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership/Business and maintains an ever increasing schedule of Corporate Motivational Speaking, Leadership Development and Personal Performance Coaching.

Ryan coached his 3 boys all the way through minor hockey, and together with his wife, Jennifer, has revelled in his two daughters as well. Now Ryan gets a second chance at winning the Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the Vancouver Canucks!
